John Flannery's Custom T-style

Flan brought me a bunch of parts, including a Warmoth neck and body, Barden Duo-Tone pickups, and a HAS Varitone switch. Most of my time was spent trying to figure out the wiring. Flan has his own ideas on tone, and with his great sounds, who am I to argue?

First of all, it needed a custom pickguard, so we worked together to figure out what was the best knob and button configuration. He's pretty easygoing about it and let me use my judgement as to spacing and such.

First I took Flan's pickguard design and turned it into a template so we could see what it would look like and where exactly it should be. I then routed a control cavity.

He wanted a fairly complicated wiring setup, with 2 3-way toggle switches for series/split/parallel options. Then we installed a 5-way super-switch to get more series/parallel/phase options between the pickups. Then we added the HAS Sound Varitone switch which has some very interesting and useful sounds. I didn't get it at first, but after messing with it for 20 minutes, I thought it was the shiznit.

Quality parts go together pretty easily, and this guitar was no exception. It played and sounded wonderful...extremely versatile...but in an unexpected way. Interesting tones, and sweeet! The Barden Duo-Tones are fantastic, and the HAS Varitone is da bomb.

John loved it and came back with an S-style project soon afterwords.

A rousing success!

He called me several times after he took it home to tell me how much he loved it. I'm sure it's getting put to good use.
